First off, what is Dutra? Dutra is an underwater mountain about 70 miles off the coast of Port O’Connor, Texas. This is the place where I caught my first Marlin and stands as a staple to what a concrete company should be and what they should produce – a product that is bold and stands the test of time.
I am 31 and have been working in the concrete industry since I was 22. Most of this time has been at a large commercial concrete firm based in Austin. My first day on the job was in the field with a college degree. I had a shovel in my hand and dug dirt for my entire first week on the job. From the lowest of laborer positions, I climbed the ranks to a head-of-office position. We built large buildings; high rises (up to 54 stories thus far), data centers, industrial buildings (tilt wall), hospitals, etc.
